About
Mrs. Andrews works with 2 homeroom classes. Students in Mrs. Andrews' homeroom visit her for Reading first thing in the morning. Mid-morning, they switch to go see Mrs. Johnson for Math while Mrs. Johnson's homeroom come to Reading. Students in both classes have the opportunity to work with Ms. Davis our Instructional Assistant and Mrs. Peebles our K-1 MCL who spend some time in our room each morning to assist with activities. Students also attend reading groups with various teachers after lunch.
Innovation Zone Update:
The 2017/2018 school year will begin our school's transition into becoming an "innovation zone" in our county. After many years of self-contained Kindergarten and First Grade Classrooms, we will begin to take a new approach to move towards higher student achievement by offering classrooms that are departmentalized for Reading and Math. Students will also have the opportunity to work with different teachers and students based on their learning needs. I am excited to be a part of this process and look forward to continuing to reach more students. It is important for students to master early phonics and reading skills in order to be successful later on in their school careers. I can't wait to see the growth the students will make this year!
